I managed to get my wife Aleta out to run another race with me! We're both a bit out of shape (as you can probably tell from the second half of this video =p) but we both placed 1st in our age groups. I'm getting back into it and bringing her with me!

International Talk Like a Pirate Day - Krispy Kreme Doughnuts - 12 Box Free!

We heard about Krispy Kreme Doughtnuts offering a free doughnut to anybody who would talk like a pirate and a FREE 12 BOX to anybody who dresses like a pirate! arghh!! We visited the location in Excalibur Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas!

--------

International Talk Like a Pirate Day (ITLAPD, September 19) is a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Baur (Ol' Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap'n Slappy), of Albany, Oregon, U.S., who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with "Hello," but with "Ahoy, matey!" The holiday, and its observance, springs from a romanticized view of the Golden Age of Piracy. It has become a holiday for members of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. /ˈkrɪspi kriːm/ is a doughnut company founded on July 13, 1937. Krispy Kreme founder Vernon Rudolph bought a secret yeast-raised recipe from a New Orleans chef, rented a building in what is now historic Old Salem in Winston-Salem, NC, and began selling to local grocery stores.
Products are sold in Krispy Kreme stores, grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, Wal-Mart, and Target stores in the United States. Internationally, doughnuts are sold in Loblaws supermarkets, Petro-Canada gas stations, and as freestanding stores in Canada, along with BP Service Stations and BP Travel Centres and Seven Eleven stores in Australia. In the United Kingdom, Tesco supermarkets, Tesco Extra, and most service stations carry Krispy Kreme products. The company's growth was steady prior to its initial public offering but profits have decreased in recent quarters.

International Talk Like a Pirate Day - Long John Silver's - Free Fish!

We heard about Long John Silver's offering free fish to anybody who would talk like a pirate on International Talk Like a Pirate Day! We dressed the part also and headed down to our local restaurant on Bolder Highway, Las Vegas.

Long John Silver's, Inc., is a United States-based fast-food restaurant that specializes in seafood. The name of the brand is borrowed from the novel Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, in which the pirate Long John Silver is one of the main characters. Formerly a division of Yum! Brands, Inc., the company was divested to a group of franchisees in 2011.
Long John Silver's food offerings include platters, sandwiches, and various single items. The platters feature seafood as the main item, with side dishes consisting of coleslaw, hushpuppies, corn, green beans, and French fries (chips) or batter fried onion rings. Seafood items include fish, clams, and shrimp, with chicken fingers known as "Chicken Planks". More recently, the brand began offering baked cod for the calorie conscious diner. The restaurants also sell dessert offerings as separate items.
Before being bought by Yum! Brands in late 2002, Long John Silver's sold Coca Cola products. They switched over to Pepsi products the following year when Yum! Brands began to open new restaurants. Long John Silver's still sells Pepsi products to this day.
Customers also have the option to "add a piece", which the company promotes in its advertising and on its website.
On July 2, 2013, The Center for Science in the Public Interest, a nutrition and health policy watchdog group, named Long John Silver's "Big Catch" meal the worst restaurant meal in America, noting that it contains 33 grams of trans fat, 19 grams of saturated fat, 1,320 calories and almost 3,700 milligrams of sodium.

We decided to run the Sympathy for the Devil 5K race in Las Vegas! We both hadn't ran for a long time!! But nevertheless, we thought we'd give it a go! The trophies were rubber ducks glued onto a small kitchen tile with the race gender and position written on the tile! Aleta and I each won first place in our gender, so we have a couple of these on our trophy shelf at home! :)

On course provisions will help keep you cool!

This is a rescheduled date for Running with the Devil which was uncontrollably and regretfully cancelled in June. Registration is open to new registrants and also available as a "transferred in" race to those from the June Devil race.

*Note* Shirts, medals, and awards will be branded "Running with the Devil"

This *may* be the final running of Devil, hence the name "Sympathy for the Devil". As such a memorial service of sorts will be conducted at the start line to bury my first born race, now 7 years old.

[NES] John Elway's Quarterback - Fast Receiver Cheat

This video shows you how to get fast receivers on John Elway's Quarterback. Classic game!

----------------------

Home versions were released for DOS (as a booter) and the Nintendo Entertainment System (in 1988) as well as various home computers such as Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and Apple IIGS. The arcade game is an upright that had two player capability.
The controls are different for both the left and right sides (offense and defense). There is a spring-loaded joystick which allows the player to angle and release according to where they were throwing (for the quarterback) or kicking. When possession changes, players switch sides of the console, and play continues. In both cases, players can select from a playbook of formations and plays.
On offense, the player has the option of selecting the "normal play," which is nearly impossible for the defense to stop if performed correctly. To select the "normal play," the player must highlight the play in the play selection menu and wait for the play selection menu timer to expire. In the "normal play," the quarterback must pass the ball quickly to avoid being sacked, as the offensive line collapses unusually quickly in this formation. Once the ball is released, the wide receivers will run toward the ball. If the ball is caught, the receiver will have the ability to run at extremely high speeds. The receiver will then be nearly impossible for the defense to catch and tackle.

John Albert Elway, Jr. (born June 28, 1960) is a former American football quarterback and is now the executive vice president of football operations for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Stanford and his entire professional career with the Denver Broncos. Elway recorded the most victories by a starting quarterback at the time of his retirement. He retired in 1999 and statistically was the second most prolific passer in NFL history. Elway led his teams to six AFC Championship Games and five Super Bowls, winning his last two.
Elway set several career records for passing attempts and completions while at Stanford. He also received All-American honors. Elway was drafted #1 overall in the 1983 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Colts before being traded to the Denver Broncos. In 1987, he embarked on what is considered to be one of the most clutch and iconic performances in sports and in NFL history, helping engineer the Broncos on a 98-yard, game-tying touchdown drive in the AFC Championship Game against the Cleveland Browns. The moment is known in National Football League lore as "The Drive". Following the AFC Championship Game, Elway and the Broncos lost in Super Bowl XXI to the New York Giants. It would be the first of a record five Super Bowl starts at quarterback in Elway's career, a record that he solely held until 2012 when Tom Brady earned his fifth Super Bowl start.
After two more Super Bowl losses, the Broncos entered a period of decline; however, that would end during the 1997 season, as Elway and Denver won their first Super Bowl title by defeating the Green Bay Packers 31--24 in Super Bowl XXXII. The Broncos repeated as champions the following season in Super Bowl XXXIII by defeating the Atlanta Falcons 34--19. Elway was voted MVP of that Super Bowl, which would prove to be the last game of his career.
Elway was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004 in his first year of eligibility. Since his retirement, Elway has owned several businesses, including being a co-owner of the inactive Colorado Crush, an arena football team.

[NES] Super Mario Bros - Complete Full Run with Warps (No Deaths)

Random run on Super Mario Bros on the NES (Hence the TV!). This is a full complete run showing where the warps are and a few lives on the way! Managed to do it with no deaths on this run! :)

-------------

Super Mario Bros. (スーパーマリオブラザーズ Sūpā Mario Burazāzu?) is a 1985 platform video game developed by Nintendo, published for the Family Computer/Nintendo Entertainment System as a pseudo-sequel to the 1983 game Mario Bros. It is the first of the Super Mario series of games. In Super Mario Bros., the player controls Mario and in a two-player game, a second player controls Mario's brother Luigi as he travels through the Mushroom Kingdom in order to rescue Princess Toadstool from the antagonist Bowser.
The game has been highly influential, popularizing the side-scrolling genre. In 2005, IGN's poll named it as The Greatest Game Of All Time. The game also sold enormously well, and was the best-selling game of all time for approximately three decades, until Wii Sports took that title. The commercial success of Super Mario Bros. has caused it to be ported to almost every one of Nintendo's major gaming consoles. Nintendo released special red variants of the Wii and Nintendo DSi XL consoles in re-packaged, Mario-themed, limited edition bundles in late 2010 as part of the 25th anniversary of the game's release.

Dog aka "Ham Bone" Reppin' his Gangsta Grill!

Ham Bone stole my grill! One second it was on my bedside table, next, he was wearing it! I tried to get it back but he won't stop reppin' the grill!

Kissing with a Gangsta Grill!

Lesson learn't! Do not kiss with a grill! If it's a permanent grill, then it goes something like this!

In hip hop culture, a grill (also front or golds) is a type of jewelry worn over the teeth. Grills are made of metal and are generally removable. They began to be worn by hip hop artists in the early 1980s, and upgraded during the 90s in New York City, but they became more widely popular during the mid-2000s due to the rise of Dirty South rap and the more mainstream pop culture status Hip Hop attained. Though grills are fitted to the tooth impression of the wearer, whether they are safe for long-term wear is unknown.

[NES] Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - 3 - Graveyard Palace - Ironknuckle (Boss Battle)

Here is the boss fight from the 3rd palace in Zelda 2 on the NES! He can be easy to beat if you know the technique! First knock him off his horse using downward thrusts.

The best way to beat Ironknuckles is to perform jumping sword attacks towards the head and retreat a little each time. If you use the Jump spell, they usually lose orientation and stop moving while you're in mid-air. This helps a lot better with the blue ironknuckles as they keep shooting daggers at you.

----------------

3. "Graveyard" Palace [0105]
Get Raft
Defeat Ironknuckle
Get Crystal #3
Dungeon notes: Go straight to the third palace: Go back east out of the swamp,
then back to the graveyard area to the southeast. Enter the center of the
graveyard, where the King's tomb sits. Go south from the tomb and you'll
fall through one of the tiles into a cave. Use the Fairy spell to get through
it to the right, and you'll come out onto an island, where the palace is
located. This palace's secret item is the Raft, which grants you access to the
entire eastern hemisphere of Hyrule! Getting to it is tough- the palaces are
getting more maze-like, and more hazardous. The Blue Ironknuckles are very
difficult enemies to defeat; you have to be very quick with the shield and the
sword. You may also want to spend some time leveling up before this dungeon.
The boss is like a normal Blue Ironknuckle, only you have to knock him off his
horse before damaging him.
To the secret item:
- Go to the right and take the elevator down.
- Go right three times and get the key under the blocks.
- Go right, pass the elevator, and use the Jump spell to get across.
- Go right to the outside of the castle, and get the key to the right.
- Go back to the left, then take the elevator down one floor.
- Go right through a locked door to the next room.
- Jump over the pits to the right and get the key.
- Go right to the next room, through the locked door and get the Raft.
To the boss:
- Go back across the pits and left to the previous room.
- Pass the elevator and go through the locked door to the left.
- Go left and use the Jump spell to get on the bricks, then get the key to the
left by breaking through the blocks from the top.
- Go back to the right, then take the elevator down one floor.
- Go through the locked door to the right and to the next room.
- Go right, break through the blocks and go to the next room to get to the
boss.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (リンクの冒険 Rinku no Bōken?, "Adventure of Link") is an action role-playing video game with platforming elements. The second installment in The Legend of Zelda series, it was developed and published by Nintendo for the Family Computer Disk System on January 14, 1987, less than a year after the original Legend of Zelda video game was released and seven months before the United States saw the release of the first Zelda title. The game was later released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in North America and PAL regions in 1988, almost two years after its initial release in Japan, converting the game from its initial Disk System format to the NES cartridge.
The Adventure of Link is a direct sequel to the original Legend of Zelda, again involving the protagonist, Link, on a quest to save Princess Zelda, who has fallen under a sleeping spell. The Adventure of Link's emphasis on side-scrolling and role-playing-style elements, however, was a significant departure from its predecessor. The game was highly successful at the time, and introduced elements such as Link's "magic meter" and the Dark Link character that would become commonplace in future Zelda games, although the role-playing elements such as experience points and the platform-style side-scrolling and multiple lives were never used again outside of the infamous CD-I games. It was followed in 1991 by The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the Super NES. The game is also looked upon as one of the most difficult games in the Zelda series and 8-bit gaming as a whole.

[NES] Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - 4 - Island Palace - Carock (Boss Battle)

Here is the boss fight from the 4th palace in Zelda 2 on the NES! He is pretty easy to beat! Just use the Reflect Spell that you learn't in Darunia for rescuing the child from the cave.

----------------

4. "Island" Palace [0107]
Get Boots
Defeat Carock
Get Crystal #4
Dungeon notes: To find the fourth palace, return east to the Island Maze. From
the entrance, go south, then east and take the second path to the north.
Follow the path that goes north, pass the first bridge, and cross the second.
Now go west, past the monster attack, and follow the path all the way west,
north, and east. Go east past the monster attack to the fork in the road. Go
north, then follow one of the paths to get to the palace in the northeast
corner. In the second half of the game, the dungeons are longer- and much
harder. Take some time to train on the more difficult enemies of this
continent before entering. The dungeon prize this time is the Boots! These
allow you to walk on shallow water, and they are necessary to get a certain
Heart Container and to reach the next palace. Stalfos, Stone Warriors, and
Ironknuckles are common enemies, as well as the wizardlike Doomknockers.
Ignore the Doomknockers or use the Reflect spell to bounce their magic back on
themselves. Do whatever you can to avoid falling into the pits- one slip, and
you've lost a life! The boss is like a giant Doomknocker; he can be defeated
easily by using Reflect and staying against one of the walls to reflect his
spells.

[NES] Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - 5 - Water Palace - Gooma (Boss Battle)

Here is the boss fight from the 5th palace in Zelda 2 on the NES! This guy is an asshole! But I find using the Jump spell helps to clear his weapon easier than normal. Careful, he takes off lots of life!!

----------------

5. "Water" Palace [0109]
Get Flute
Defeat Gooma
Get Crystal #5
Dungeon notes: To get to this palace from the last Heart Container, go all the
way west in the water, then all the way south, then east. The palace entrance
is on a tiny island here. The dungeon item is another item only useful in a
couple certain instances: to get rid of the River Devil south of Nabooru and
to reveal the sixth palace. The Fire Droppers are advanced wizard enemies
that shoot fire- easier to avoid than Goriyas. This dungeon is easier to
complete than the previous one, serving as a small respite before the final
two arduous dungeons. Keep track of the elevators you have used and where
they lead so that you don't get lost. The boss here is another enemy that's
vulnerable to the head; the Jump and Shield spells are your friends, as usual.
To the secret item:
- Go right and take the elevator down.
- Go right to the next room, use the Fairy spell and fly right to the next
room.
- Go back left and get the key, then cross the bridge right to the next room.
- Go right through the locked door, then take the elevator down.
- Go left to the next room.
- Use the blocks to jump up to the key, then left to the next room.
- Go left and take the elevator down.
- Go left to the next room and take the elevator down one floor.
- Go right and use the Jump spell to get the key on the platform.
- Go right twice, then jump up right through a fake wall to the next room.
- Go right and take the elevator down.
- Go left through the locked door to the next room.
- Go left through another locked door and get the Flute.
To the boss:
- Go back right to the previous room and take the elevator up.
- Go right to the next room and take the elevator up.
- Go left to the next room and get the key.
- Go back right and take the elevator back down.
- Go all the way left past the first elevator, through four rooms and the fake
wall, then back up the elevator one floor.
- Go left through the locked door to the next room.
- Go left and take the elevator down one floor.
- Go left to the next room and get the key.
- Go back right to the previous room and take the elevator up two floors.
- Go right through the locked door to the next room to get to the boss.

Pump it Up Fiesta (also titled 2010 Fiesta or Pump it Up 10th Anniversary Edition) is a coin operated video arcade dance machine. Fiesta is the 22nd arcade game release in the Pump It Up series, released in Mexico on March 6, 2010. Fiesta's theme is a celebration of the Pump It Up series' 10th anniversary, following the release of 1st Dance Floor in 1999. Fiesta EX (or 2011 Fiesta, the series' 23rd release), an expanded version of the original Fiesta, was released on early 2011. Both versions boast an innovative dual interface system that allows for improved personalized customization options that is easily accessible to all level of players. In addition, Fiesta EX features enhanced upgrade Quest World and Rush Mode. Rush mode is a returning pump feature that allows players to increase intensity and speed by controlling the velocity configurations.
New to the Fiesta series are two new mission modes (Quest World and Skill Up Zone), "Short Cut" song edits, consisting of Pump It Up originals and specialty tracks under one minute in length, various new battle modes, and a new interface which allows a player to play nearly everything in the game in one credit in an expanded "Arcade Station". Andamiro's promotional advertising promises users the future ability to create custom stepcharts for existing songs in the game. Traditional difficulty modes (Normal, Hard, Crazy, Freestyle, Nightmare, Another) have been abolished in favor of a system that allows a variety of charts organized by single/double, performance, and listed by order of escalating difficulty. This system allows many more available charts for individual songs than in the past. For example, Sorceress Elise, one of the new songs, has eight "single" (one side) charts, with levels 4/6/8/10/15/18/21/23. Three of the new songs in Fiesta are songs created exclusively for Pump It Up, expanding the line of Pump It Up originals to more artists outside of BanYa Production, Yahpp, and msgoon.
The games helped in a minor way to popularize several K-Pop artists of the time (especially in Latin America, where the game is more popular), as many of their songs appeared in the game. Fiesta included 2NE1's hit Fire, Kara's Wanna as well as popular Korean music from the early 2000s in favor of the celebrational theme. Fiesta EX greatly expanded the line with popular bands of the time, most notably Shinee and Orange Caramel among many others. A sequel, Pump It Up Fiesta 2, was released on November 2012, paralleling the release of Pump It Up Infinity, a spin-off American Pump game succeeding the Pro series.

In 1972, Don Laughlin expanded by building a west wing that added 48 rooms, and in 1975, a 52-room east wing was built. Construction of a 14 story hotel/casino tower in 1983 added 253 rooms and in 1986, a second fourteen-floor tower added 307 more rooms and an automotive museum. With free admission to the public, the Riverside's extensive collection is an offshoot of the famous Harrah's collection. The largest expansion came in 1994 with the addition of 792 more rooms in a 30 story hotel tower, which remains the tallest of the hotel towers in Laughlin. The expansion costed more than $70 million. A 34 lane bowling center, the only one in Laughlin, was constructed in 1999. Today the resort has 1,405 rooms, and a 6 screen movie theater.
The Riverside poker room is smoke-free and has a large rear window with a vista of the Colorado river and nearby mountains. The cash games are frequented by a few local players, but mostly they are occupied by motor-home driving retirees visiting Laughlin for the weekend. The $15 buy-in poker tournaments that Riverside holds 3 times daily are shoot-outs that last one hour (timed), which makes them super-aggressive "All-in" festivals. Players must choose their starting hands carefully in these tournaments because they must be prepared to call an all-in on the majority of hands, especially in the last 15--20 minutes.

-----

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Las Vegas, NV [28th September 2013] (SMITH'S 350)

The Smith's 350 is a 350 kilometres (220 mi) NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race that takes place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Winner: TIMOTHY PETERS
Results: http://www.nascar.com/en_us/camping-world-truck-series/standings/results/2013/smiths-350.html

LVMS did not host a truck race in 2000.
In 2011, the race was moved to October as part of the IndyCar weekend and becomes an afternoon race.
In 2012, the race was originally set for October 13 at 12 noon PDT as part of the IndyCar weekend, but Indy Racing League LLC faces issues from the 2011 IZOD IndyCar World Championship which the 2011 Truck race was the Saturday feature of the race meet, but that meet was removed as a result of legal issues following the death of Dan Wheldon on Lap 11 of the IZOD IndyCar Series feature. As a result of issues from the 2011 race weekend, it moved back to late September as a stand-alone race and returned to night race.
